New Product Alert!

So many people have turned to agave for their preferred sweetener.  I am still mainly a sugar and honey person but when I found this product the last time I was in Trader Joe’s I had to try it!  I love real maple syrup (being from New England) and I felt I could ease myself into the agave if I did like it.

Ingredients include: evaporated cane juice, pure maple syrup, agave syrup (all organic)….I test it plain before adding it to my oats this morning and wow it is sweet!  A little will definitely go a long way.

On that note, I give you Apple Crisp Oats:

This breakfast was amazing!  I would eat it for dessert!  I can’t wait to use this syrup on pancakes and french toast.  Two thumbs up!

I am glad that a baby on roller skates made the opening new blurbs on the Today show and NOT the G8 Summit.  What is wrong with us?

Busy day ahead, I hope it moves fast!

Monday…insert sigh…

Welcome to another week!  Time will always march on, and on to breakfast!

I wanted to use some of all of the cereals in the house and I just left out one blueberry apple granola because it was unopened.  I had a sort of cereal medley founded on oat bran and Me and Gogi.

From front to back:

  • 1 tbs rainforest granola, small handful of TJs fruit and fiber medley and 1 tbs Uncle Sam.  Everyone also got in on the MD strawberry fest!  The bottom was 1/4cup oat bran and 1/4 cup me and gogi cooked with 1/4 cup almond milk and 1/4+ h20.

I am glad I got to enjoy most of my cereals this morning I had missed my Tjs fruit and nutter!

Have a super Monday All!

Ace of Cakes Sighting!

In my long list of blogging topics I forgot to mention that I saw Jeff from Ace of Cakes on my run yesterday!  He was with his puppy, and I had to do a double take.  It must be so strange for a shy guy like that to be recognized every day.

Lunch was pretty typical: salad greens from the market, white beans, black beans, tomatoes, wheat berries and 1 oz of turkey.  I dressed this up with homemade balsamic dressing: (the ratio for EVOO to vinegar is 3/1)

  • EVOOlunch 5.18.09
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • white balsamic
  • apple cider vinegar
  • S&P

I also had the usually side of fruit salad, which was finished with a homemade nola bar and seltzer at snack time!  Oh can’t forget TJ’s coffee house yogi (my favorite on fruit!).  Now heading to G-Y-M!

Rise and Shine!

Not so much shine this AM, but it is supposed to clear up later in the day.  Rumor around the gym is that there will be the dreaded sub at spin tonight so maybe I will run outside again.  Other then that typical Monday fare is to come!  To kick off the week I went with warm oats:

  • 1/4 cup oatsIMG_3309
  • 1/2cup h2o
  • 1/4 cup rainforest nola
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 strawberries cut up
  • 1 tbs flax
  • 1 tbs almond butter
  • sprinkle of wheat berries

Short but sweet.  Off to see what today will bring me!  Happy Monday!

Friday, Friday!

Friday always bring a sense of relief, a sort of spring in your step.  You know that you have the next two days to plan for yourself and most of us get to dress down today.  It is still raining here…did I move to Seattle or Baltimore?  I hate it when it rains on Friday because that means our recycling is going to get all wet, gross!  I felt the need for some yogurt this AM so here is the run down:

  • 1/4 country multigrain oatsIMG_3280
  • 1/4 cup non-fat plain yogi
  • 1/2 cup rainforest granola
  • 1/2 tbs flax seed
  • 1/2 banana mashed
  • splash almond breeze
  • sprinkle of dried blueberries
  • spoon of almond butter

And of course trader joes breakfast blend coffee with skim/splash of almond breeze! YUM!

Linda Lunch!

Out to lunch for our Administrative Assistant Lindoooooo!  We went to Nick’s Fish House on the water and would have sat outside if not for the wind.  The menu carried the normal Maryland seaside fare ranging from the Maryland Crab soup to the Crab Pretzel.  I was torn between the turkey club and the Gorgonzola salad.  I went with the salad with grilled chicken no walnuts (I’m allergic) and dressing on the side.  I also knew I would not be happy with white bread.  It was lacking a bit in its name sake, Gorgonzola, but the greens were fresh and the chicken cooked well.  The herb dressing was also warm, and this added a nice touch.  It also said it came with granny smith apples (I love them with Gorgonzola) but only three small slices were part of the dish.  I did get a pickle from Debbie and a laugh out of the fries they were serving at lunch that day :)

My afternoon fruit salad appeared around 3pm due to the lack of whole grains at lunch, but still did not cut it.  Before my run I had two large handfuls of rainforest granola, yum!  Kickball tonight so the run was a short 4miles with an ab set at the end.  Off to get another W!

New breakfast yum!

So it was easy to get out of bed this AM because I knew I was going to be able to try my oatmeal, granola crazy mix!

The total run down:

  • 1/4 rainforest granola from the bulk bins at whole foodsIMG_3255
  • 1/4 country choice multigrain oats
  • 1/2 cup plain non-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 bananaIMG_3251
  • 1/4 almond breeze vanilla milk
  • 1/4 cup skim
  • 6ct blackberries (AM)
  • 1 tsp flax seed (AM)
  • 1/3 cup TJs high fiber fruit and nut medley (AM)

All in all I believe it was a success!  Delicious and filling.  I had the usually coffee and skim with a splash of almond breeze to test (success!)  Now lets see if it will last me til lunch time…this is a test for any breakfast creation!  Now back to the Monday grind new, get dressed, pack gym bag, out door……blah.
