Good Morning and Happy First Day of Winter!
At least winter is living up to its name and giving us 28 degree temps this morning. I am a little worried about the ice out there, so I am going to try and leave a little early this morning in a low gear. We officially got 20in on Saturday and broke a ton of records! As long as the weather is clear for Wednesday night, it can snow as long as it wants. I always enjoy a white Christmas.
This morning I finally got to make something that has been brewing in my head for a very long time…
BANANA ALMOND CRUNCH OAT BRAN AKA the closest thing to marzipan you can have for breakfast!
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 h2o, 1/3 cup skim
- 1 banana, 1/2 mixed in, 1/2 on top
- 1 big splash of almond extract (KEY!)
- 1 tbs of Kashi 7 grain nuggets
- almond butter
- a few raw almonds
When this came out of the mirco I could just smell the fruit shaped candies that I love so dear!
Perfect with a cup of gingerbread coffee!
OK I need to finish my magical bowl and then get on the icy roads…not need to rush into work today, there will hardly be anyone there!
Happy Monday Everyone!

When I turned on the news this morning the water cooler question of the day was, “should school nutritionist cut out chocolate milk from school lunches and only serve plain milk?” This made me think. Chocolate milk is much better than soda or most juices, but it is still chocolate. Overall I think I would be in favor of keeping the C. Milk because it could be the only way you can get students to drink the calcium rich dairy product. If they see a spike in soda consumption in the schools we will know why. I think I always had Apple&Eve juice boxes as a kid. What did you drink?

Onto the food!
Superfood breakfast!
~1/2 cup mixed oats and oat bran, 1 cup h20, banana (1/2 mixed in 1/2 on top), scoop of Amazing Grass Superfood Meal, pomegranate arils, small amount Uncle Sam, 1tbs almond butter.
This is hugely filling! I think I have to pack up the second 1/2 to bring to work!
Goooooo Superfoods!
Happy Friday everyone!

Foooooggggg-Hooooorrrrrnnnnnn
I have no idea how to type out the noise of a fog horn so that was my attempt
It is like pea soup outside my window this morning. We don’t live year water or in a valley so it must be very humid outside!
Fog Horns remind me of summer in Maine! Oh Maine I will see you in 6 days for Turkey Day!
For breakfast I wanted something simple and classic – Whipped Banana Oats
1/3 cup oats, 1/3 h20, 1/3 cup milk, 1 banana, 1 tbs flax, lots of cinnamon, Kashi Go Lean Crunch, almond butter spoon.
Side note: The color girl on the news is in a turkey coop this morning with a ton of turkeys getting ready for slaughter. Kind of morbid, don’t you think?
Time to jet!
Happy Almost Friday!

Good Morning! I can’t believe it is Monday morning again. I also can’t believe how awful I slept last night. Actually it wasn’t me, it was Nick. He was tossing and turning the whole night which kept me awake. I told him this morning that if this happens again to please go sleep in the other room or on the couch. Needless to say I was not a happy camper this morning and will not be able to stay awake for the Raven’s game tonight
At least I had prepared my breakfast last night!
Overnight AB&J with banana oats!
Last night I mixed the remains of my plain yogurt with 1/3 cup of oats, berry jam and a little almond milk.
This morning I added banana, flax, almond butter and Bear Naked granola.
I love this combo! Off to fill up my coffee cup. This is going to be a looooong Monday. I hope your day is going smoother than mine!

Say that like you are from the south!
Happy Friday the 13th! I was born on the 13th day of a month so I have nothing against it, but I am sure they will be making a big deal out of it this AM. Personally I am just glad it is Friday!
In honor of Friday I went with waffles! Pumpkin waffles that is!
Into my regular waffle mix I added 1/2 cup of pumpkin, Amazing Grass Superfood, and pumpkin pie spice.
On top I had yogurt, almond butter, pumpkin butter, pumpkin granola and a small drizzle of real maple syrup around the edge.
After the photo shoot this is what I do with my toppings. Got to spread the love to every bite!
I hope everyone has a super weekend on the way! Sunday is supposed to be amazing around here! I am thinking another long run
This time I will properly hydrate and go earlier in the AM.
Happy Friday!!!

Good Morning! I can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow morning! Nick is still tucked away in bed because he decided to skip the gym this morning, and I am jealous. I guess he stayed up too late watching MNF. I don’t even know who won!
Last night Food INC got me just a relied up as last time. I wish I had it to show my dad. I think it would make him understand more about where I am coming from with my food politics.
Vote with your fork!!!
Onto breakfast!
I haven’t have pumpkin oats in a very long time and it was high time I revisited an old friend before it is gingerbread oats season!
Not the prettiest picture, but certainly delicious! How do you make brown pretty?
In my bowl: 1/3 cup oat bran, 1/3 cup h2o, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1/3 cup pumpkin, 1 tbs pumpkin butter, 1 tbs almond butter, pumpkin pie spice and a handful of Uncle Sam for a texture change.
Sometimes the nastiest looking things are the most delicious!
Sicily was not invited to breakfast today…she was too interested in her own bowl of kibble. Hmmm Uncle Sam kind of looks like people kibble

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Too bad I will be in a cube all day.
I know I had mentioned peppermint patty oats, but I changed my mind when I looked into the fridge this morning.
I can’t remember the last time I had a yogurt mess and an almost empty Chobani container was calling my name! Sicily was excited for it too.
Don’t worry, she didn’t eat any, just making sure it was safe for me to eat. She does not eat people food and I plan to keep it that way.
Almond butter, banana and jelly yogurt mess.
Along with the ab, jelly, yogurt and banana there was 1/2 a cup of Uncle Sam and 1/2 cup of Kashi H2H with a side of Sissy snifs. I think she was after the yogurt, but again she did not eat any of my breakfast.
OK time to head out the door!
Happy Monday!

Good Morning! My Dad is here and we have a long day planned so I need to make this quick!
To finish up with yesterday in not too many words. Sorry I keep doing this.
Tuna salad made with yogurt, pickles, S&P, sun dried tomatoes on a bed of spinach. I also had the works chips from Food should taste good and a very large carrot.
I had an apple on the way to pick up my dad but I forgot to snap a pick.
After sitting through hours of traffic we finally picked up some booze before heading to dinner.
For dinner we headed over to High Topps because we knew we could get a seat.
I started with the Maryland Crab soup and a roll.
And moved onto the Caesar salad with another roll and dressing on the side. It was typical food. Comparable to Chili’s. Nick said his was awful, but that is to be expected when you order a steak at a place like that. They are better at pouring drinks than making food there. Tonight’s dinner should be better.
I had a couple thin mints, watched Dog Whisperer with Jillian (!!!!) and called it a night.
This morning I had oat bran with pumpkin butter, orange cranberries, Kashi H2H , almond butter.
OK off to tour Fort McHenry and then head to Clipper City Brewery for a tour with Nick.
Check ya later!

Good Morning! Happy Monday!
News report: There is a beef recall in Maryland due to tainted ground beef from NY sold to Trader Joe’s and Giant. E. coli has been reported.
Yep! For those of you that saw Food Inc, now creepy is it that what Pollan spoke of is actually happening. Your average pound of ground beef is from 5 different countries. Just because the beef was processed doesn’t mean the cows were in upstate.
The thing that bothered me the most was how casually the news reporters updated us. I guess someone has to die from E. Coli for it to matter to them. This is a serious problem!
All the more reason to watch the beef intake, but remember it isn’t just beef.
On a lighter note, it is lighter out this morning! I also had a nice bowl of oat bran for breakie.
1/4 cup oat bran, 2 tbs Kashi 7 grain nuggest, 1/2 naner, 1/4 cup skim, 1/4 cup h2o, flax, handful Nature’s Path Blueberry Cinnamon Optimum, river of almond butter
With a cup of coffee, warms me heart and soul, but in a not so attractive bowl.
Check your beef!
Welcome Monday!
