I was so spoiled yesterday, now today feels like my Monday
I think it would be great to have 3 day weekends/4 day weeks all the time, but I know once we had it everyone would want more. Isn’t that the way the world works? “If you give a mouse a cookie”.
The weather is supposed to warm up a bit today but then have rain for the remainder, yuck! At least I do not have to focus on running outside anymore!
I have been slacking in the yogurt dept lately and with Sicily getting to enjoy it now, I thought I would too.
Yummy yogurt mess! Tastier than it looks!
1/2 cup Greek Chobani, 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch, 1/4 Uncle Sam, 1/4 cup Bear Naked granola, 1/4 cup Nature’s Path flax flakes, banana, cinnamon.
Time to get a move on!
Check ya later!

When I was a kid I was that one that actually like Grape Nuts cereal. The last time I was at the grocery store checking out the kashi section I spotted this and got really nostalgic.
I finally remembered I had them this morning and got really excited! I love being excited for breakfast.
I mixed 1/3 cup of the Nuggets with 1/3 cup almond milk and 1/2 an apple before putting it in the micowave for 1min on high. If you like Grape Nuts, try them warm 10x better!
After cooking I added a handful of Nature’s Path flax flakes, chopped up piece of pumpkin bread and a blob of almond butter. Oh so good!!!!
Goop there? yeah that is the warmed nugget!
Time to jet, traffic on the roads!
Flu Shot? October 2, 2009

So this H1N1 flu is getting around already…do you think there is going to be violence to get the vaccine? There is not enough for everyone so I am getting the feeling there will be shady things happening to get certain people the shots. Personally I have never gotten the flu shot…boo on me, yes I know I should get it to protect others if not myself. My co-workers have gotten sick from it already. I have been lucky to not get the flu, KNOCK ON WOOD! I just get really bad allergies, honestly that is punishment enough!
Enough about bugs!
Breakfast was cold this morning and honestly my first bite was a bit of a shock because I am so used to warm and gooey oats.
Big Bowl O’ Cold cereals in 1/4 cups!
- 1/4 cup Uncle Sam
- 1/4 cup Natures Path Flax flakes
- 1/4 cup Kashi H2H
- 1/4 cup Nature’s Path Cinnamon blueberry crunch
- 1/4 cup Chobani plain yogi
- Handful of Bear Naked granola
- 1 naner
- skim
- almond butter for the other 1/2 of the naner…breakfast is not breakfast without almond butter!
Doesn’t the yogurt look like sour cream??
Have you gotten or plan on getting a flu shot?
Don’t forget to check out my 1/2 animal rescue post!

Good Morning Everyone! Welcome to Friday! It is purple Friday around these parts for the Ravens, but I am already dressed and don’t plan on switching. I will have to remember next week. CAW!
I can’t believe I am getting a cat tomorrow! I am so excited the day is almost here!
Chilly morning make me want oats, and I don’t really have anything else
It was the end of my favorite almond butter flavor
Out of the three I got in a sample pack, I think this would be the only one I would buy again. So delicious!
I had sort of a brown theme today in my bowl.
1/2 cup oats + oat bran mix, 1/2 cup h20, 1/2 cup skim, 1 banana, big sprinkle of cinnamon, handful Nature’s Path flax flakes, last of the Naturally Nutty vanilla almond butter (tear).
It all mixed very well together!
So this Samurai sword case in Baltimore is kind of crazy! He might face charges for cutting of the guys hand, but the man was a known felon (29 actually). It just confuses me why someone would have a samurai sword at school? I know that neighborhood is not safe, but still!
Ugh state budget goes to the hearing at the Department of Budget Management today…more budget cuts?!?!?!
Got to jet! 8 hours of work to the weekend baby!

Oh man who didn’t want to try Eli’s BBQ last night on top chef??? And that bacon lettuce wrap! Wow they sure are churning out good food over there, but why did they single out the only veggie dish. I guess it is hard to make a vegetarian dish with only canned item, but still at least they were thinking about everyone!
My breakfast was Totally not inspired by Top Chef…cereal! Trying to get rid of at least one box before tomorrow, and I did finish off my granola.
Lets see what we got? Nature’s Path Blueberry Cinnamon Optimum, Kashi H2H, Uncle Sam, Back to Nature blueberry apple granola and Nature’s Path Flax flakes. On top I had my last white peach and a ton of cinnamon!
I think life will be a little bit back to normal at the office today. Lets hope no more food gets brought in! Cake, doughnuts, bagels yikes!
Today is my FRIDAY! But tomorrow will be nothing but easy. I am getting super excited/anxious.
Have a super duper day!

Oh what a beautiful day!
I got to go to Kent, CT! Yay! Where my high school was and hang out with mama.
We started the day off with Nature’s Path flax flakes, that my mom got for me
, vanilla stoneyfield, bare naked granola, peach and blueberries.

I also had some grapefruit guice and coffee. Check out the morning glories that opened while we were eating!

After breakfast we were off to get my emissions checked and then off to Kent! p.s. Ayche passed with flying colors!
I love my high school! How do you remember yours?
Mom walking along the path outside my dorm freshman year.
So apparently The Ravens were all over Kent today?!?!!?! Check out all Ravens I found today!

That is a lot of Raven! My mom saw a doormat from the road, but we didn’t stop.
For lunch we went to the Blu Grill aka the nicest place in town. Our beloved bakery has closed down in the poor economic times
I got the open faced cuban with pulled pork, ham, pickle and cheese. It also came with a side salad.
A bit too much mayo-sauce, but otherwise very tasty. I also had a bite of my mom’s portabello burger with peppers fresh mozzarella and summer squashes.

For dessert we had to head to Kent Coffee and Chocolate, which is actually owned by my high school bf’s aunt.
After about 20min of trying to figure out what to get, I settled on a nutella cup and a dark chocolate graham. I put mom’s frozen cap in the pic too!
After chocolate we went for a walk down by the Housatonic River that runs right along the banks of my school.
MmmMMmmMMMmmmm nature!
Around 2 we bid farewell to Kent and headed home just in time for a giant t-storm to pass through. We stopped by Whole Foods to pick up some dinner supplies on the way and I saw these!
Quail, Ostrich and duck eggs! Crazy!
Once the rain had passed I set off on a run that I thought was going to be about a 10k, but it got really messed up so I ended up running for 55min so I am guessing 6miles +. I felt really good the whole time so I was excited about that!
People were coming over for dinner so I drank some coconut water to rehydrate and hopped in the shower.
So what I had to do next was really inhumane is some people’s opinion, but having worked in a fish market I found nothing wrong with it. I won’t show you all the details, but lets just say I had to chop live lobsters in half and rip their arms off. Mom couldn’t watch.
Sorry for the blur….while these cooked on the grill I munched on some figs + goat cheese along with some chips and guac. I also had a glass of Rose that was being passed around.

After about 15min the lobsters were ready from the grill. I enjoyed 1 tail and 2 claws plus some yummy salad that mom made for dinner.

These lobsters were so delicious! Especially dipped in lemon butter. These were the first and prob the last lobsters for me of the summer…sad we used to eat so many in Maine
For our sweet end, my mom’s friend Dean chopped up a fresh pineapple and I coated mine in dark chocolate syrup.
Yum! Dark chocolate is amazing on anything! OK so I was told maybe not on lettuce tonight, but you never know!
Tomorrow I am tackling re-packing everything for the new apt that we have in the basement. Bah! No fun!
Night All!
Wow my home posts are so much longer than normal ones!
Do you find that you do more cool things when you travel home?

Welcome to the hottest day of the year in Baltimore! It’s going to be another scorcher 100-105. And it has to be a Monday. At least I will be freezing my bum off in my cube all day.
You would think on a day like this I would want something cool like a smoothie to start off my day, but I had the bottom of an almond butter jar calling my name since last week and all I wanted was to throw some oats in it.
1/2 cup oats cooked in h20 and 1/2 a banana. Topped with 1tbs flax, handful Nature’s Path Flax Plus flakes, 6 chopped cherries. Oh and of course the almond butter throughout the jar!

Warm and gooey! Almond butter all along the walls, yum!
What’s with all of small plane crashes lately??? Another one over the Hudson and another one in Maryland?
Not a happy way to start off the week.
Off to get ready for work and find a pick me up!
What gets you up when the world is down?
Happy Monday!

We made it!!!! Woohoo! And what a busy weekend I have ahead of me. Nick and I are going with a whole slew of people to OAR tonight. Then tomorrow I am making a red velvet cake from scratch, using beets, for Nick’s sister’s house warming party. Oh and we have to go sign huge checks for our apt and some papers. Phew, did you get all that?
I needed a good breakfast to start this busy day off right.
Nature’s Path Flax flakes, TJs fruit and fiber medley, a few PB Puffins, 1/2 a naner and a spoon of almond butter.
Look at that almond butter! Yum! I also had a TJs coffee with milk (I have this every morning, it just doesn’t make the pictures).
I hope everyone has a great Friday!
What is your favorite part of the weekend? (I am having trouble coming up with mine)

Some foods I have come to enjoy in the movement to eating real food and stepping away from mass production.
*Happy Meat company started in 1987. Sponsor for Food INC.
* Dairy Company that is thinking outside of the box. They were also a sponsor of Food INC.
* Amazingly delicious organic cereals – On sale at Giant this week!!!
In Other News…I bought a new vegan cookbook (pause for surprise). I am not a vegan, but have seen some pretty cool stuff come out from it all over blog world. I am planning on using them as a base and will most likely be un-veganizing most recipes!
Barnesandnoble.com
I also made chocolate tofu cupcakes using dark chocolate silken tofu and raspberry jam! I really wish I had pics of these because they were delicious, AND Nick approved. Here is the recipe I used, but measurements maybe a bit off because I added some extra tofu and milk to make a better batter texture. Makes 6-8 cupcakes.
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup WW flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- ~3/4 cup chocolate silken tofu
- 3/4 skim milk
- 6 tsp raspberry jam
1) sift dry ingredients together. 2) mix wet. 3) add wet to try and mix (do not over mix). 4) (Do this step one at a time) put a small amount of batter in the bottom of the muffin tin, add tsp of jam, cover the jam with more batter. It is able 1/4, 1/4, 1/4 for the batter, jam, batter. 5) Bake 20min @350.
Enjoy!
