So how cute is the g-mail team?

gmail

I wrote this yesterday for y’all to make up for my lack in posting!

Hello and sorry for the delay in posting!

I was up at 4:15AM this morning to hit my gym for an extra early morning session.  I really like getting my workout out of the way and on with my day, but I don’t think I could do 4:15 every day.  I was feeling pretty good throughout the day and went to bed at 9pm so I might use it as a switch up option in the future.

On my way out the door I had a slice of sprouted grain and Cinnamon Raisin Swirl.

001

I was on the t-mill and going a little before 5.  Only downside?  I forgot my headphones! Nick had gotten me really nice headphone for my birthday last year ($25!) I need ones that don’t fall out of my ears while I am running, and they started to last week.  I finally threw them away yesterday and forgot to grab Nick’s this morning.  Try running 1:20 without headphones or tvs with subtitles.  What is a girl to do?  I did my usual mix up with a little more mix.  20min regular easy run, 20min hill climb while flipping through people (I have a really hard time reading and exercising), 3 mile neg splits, 10min hill climb.  I always feel so good when I am done with my run!

I rewarded myself with a grande non-fat one pump of each mocha and peppermint latte.

Strangely I wasn’t very hungry after my workout so I waited a bit to eat my breakfast at work.

I made up some overnight oats to take in this morning.

002

Chocolate banana protein oats!

003

Chobani leftovers, almond milk, banana, chocolate protein powder and a little TJs Fruit and Fiber Medley for a crunchy top.  I wish there had been a little more milk in there…it was a little chewy for my liking, but still yummy!

I was done with breakfast around 8:30 and didn’t feel the need to shovel my lunch…interesting concept!

I had leftover frittata, an orange and a cheese stick.

004 005

I also had an un-pictured truffle to round out my meal.  Funny how something so fake tasting can taste so good!

I had a little bit larger than usual PM snack because I was heading straight home after work and when I do this I usually head right for food!

Chobani peach with my leftover cereal from breakfast this morning.

006

I think I got enough yogurt in today!

Speaking of yogurt…Oikos just announced they are making a chocolate and caramel flavor Greek yogurt, um heaven!!!!!!

Nick and I had our Christmas when I got home and he got me a bunch of great stuff for delicious food making and another great book about food politics.  I will be reading it over vacation!  Thanks love!

We had to eat and run tonight because we were meeting up for a surprise birthday part in the city…Nick wanted Chipotle, and I was curious how healthy I could make it.

I really like there tortillas so I knew that would be my carb portion (I really wish they had WW tortillas! Or at least 1/2 and 1/2?).  I do love how the place is moving quickly to sustainable and organic.

I got a vegetarian burrito with black beans, pinto beans, peppers and onions (yuck the onions were raw!), pico, corn, cheese (only thing I would take out because I couldn’t taste it), lettuce and guac.

 008

Huge!  I used to get such a different burrito there!

The party was a great success and it was actually really nice to see everyone before the holidays and catch up!

We came home I packed and little and hit the hay…I actually did really well for being up at 4:15AM!

This morning I wanted something warm to eat!

009

Oatbran, Tjs fruit and nut medley, Kashi H2H, banana, flax, POM arils, PB.

010 I love POM!  I wish they were not such a pain to get out of their husk!

011 OK I need to get moving so I can get into work and then back here to pick up Sissy and hit the road!!!!!

I am not sure how blogging will go at home…we do not have wireless, but I might do drive bys at the Starbucks just to get the live writer to post :)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Good Morning and Happy First Day of Winter!

At least winter is living up to its name and giving us 28 degree temps this morning.  I am a little worried about the ice out there, so I am going to try and leave a little early this morning in a low gear.  We officially got 20in on Saturday and broke a ton of records!  As long as the weather is clear for Wednesday night, it can snow as long as it wants.  I always enjoy a white Christmas.

This morning I finally got to make something that has been brewing in my head for a very long time…

BANANA ALMOND CRUNCH OAT BRAN AKA the closest thing to marzipan you can have for breakfast!

001

  • 1/3 cup oat bran
  • 1/3 h2o, 1/3 cup skim
  • 1 banana, 1/2 mixed in, 1/2 on top
  • 1 big splash of almond extract (KEY!)
  • 1 tbs of Kashi 7 grain nuggets
  • almond butter
  • a few raw almonds

When this came out of the mirco I could just smell the fruit shaped candies that I love so dear!

002 Perfect with a cup of gingerbread coffee!

003 Almond close up!

OK I need to finish my magical bowl and then get on the icy roads…not need to rush into work today, there will hardly be anyone there!

Happy Monday Everyone!

So I said that we stopped by a special place yesterday in Annapolis.  What was that place?  Well…

001 Great Harvest of Kath fame!  I was so excited when we pulled into the parking lot and really hopped they were making the Dakota bread of fame, but alas they were not making it yesterday.  It was actually a good thing see is how I have about an entire loaf of organic 12 seed that I still need to consume.

I sampled a blueberry lemon muffin and a chocolate mint chip cookie and settled in an fruit and oat muffin to bring home and save for this morning!

002 003

Check out all the fruit in there!

I really contemplating eating the whole thing toasted for breakfast, but I wanted to make it last.  I opted for putting half of it over my oat bran this morning.

004 1/4 cup oat bran, 1/4 cup h2o, 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/2 naner, handful granola, 1/2 Great Harvest muffin, drizzle of vanilla cranberry pb.  I like how drippy this pb is, perfect for the drizzle.  I really enjoyed the muffin topped oat bran.  The fruit seemed to be soaked in honey?  I think I might buy a couple muffins as oats topping next time I am around a good one.

005 This is actually a little smaller than my usual breakfast and I meant to add flax or some yogurt, but I packed a larger than normal snack to combat all , of the holiday food at the party today, so I will just break into that before.

Hooray for Friday!  I am just hoping I don’t have to get too much work done before the festivities begin…stupid stimulus…I mean I love it!  Job security, just repeating that.

It’s date night tonight!  So exited!

See you after that!

:)

T-3 hours and I will be on my way to Boston!!!!!

Brief review of the rest of yesterday…

001002

003

Pumpkin Chili Quesadillas became pumpkin chili, cheese and spinach tacos.  Kind of a messy option for work.

Work was extremely busy yesterday I even forgot to snap a pic of the usual at the time of Shredded Wheat and Orange Cranberries.

I managed to get in 5 miles at the gym before heading to the Wine Merchant for the usual powerhouse and then onto kickball and we are another step closer to the Baltimore City Kickball Championship!

007

Powerhouse: tomatoes, sprouts, lettuce, cucs, munster and peppercorn dressing on amazing multigrain bread.

I watched Top Chef on demand from last night and found out my girl Jen lost :(   I have been cheering for her from the beginning.  Another year without a girl Top Chef!  1/6 is not good stats ladies!  As long as Brian doesn’t win I will be OK (That is the brother from Cali, I always mix them up so I think that is his name).

This morning I set out to make an amazing bowl of oat, and it was until I added extra salt without knowing it :(

004 1/2 cup oat bran, 1 banana, orange cranberries, pumpkin butter, almond butter, granola and the bottom of my mixed nuts bin aka the salt overloader.

005 This was so delicious until I mixed in the salt, I mean nuts.  I ate it anyway though.  I can’t stand wasting food.  I will just watch my intake for the rest of the day and drink lots of h20 once I get through security.

Ahhhhhh OK got to go finish packing and head out the door!!!!!!

I am going to try and blog from Boston, but if not be ready for a crazy review!

Good Morning Monday! RAVENS WIN!!!!!! In overtime, and I feel asleep :( .  They should have won in regulation!  It was the third string QB, come on boys!  Big Ben will be back next time and we need to step it up!

5:30 was a bit of a shock to the system this morning.  At least it is only a 4 day work week for me!  Going to the Big Bean for Katherine’s birthday!!!!!

Until then I enjoyed a lovely bowl of oat bran!

001 1/3 cup oat bran, 1/3 cup h20, 1/2 cup skim, naner split into cooking and on top, Uncle Sam, pumpkin granola, spoon of crunchy almond butter.

Oh I have missed my almond butter!

002 003

I also had gingerbread coffee that I picked up at TJs yesterday.  Very nice with a hint of ginger, molasses and other holiday spices!

Time to get a move on little doggie!  This week is going to be reallllly busy until I reach Friday!

Fall in a Jar November 24, 2009

Yay Tuesday Friday!  8 hours of work until “Thanksgiving Break”!  I just need to figure out long term parking at the airport, and I need to make sure the lots will not be full tomorrow AM!  I am thinking not, they weren’t last year.

Oats in a jar were on the menu this morning!

001 I now have zero almond butter in the house!  I guess I will have to make the trip to Trader Joe’s on Saturday upon my return.  Hopefully most people will be so full from Thanksgiving they won’t be thinking about grocery shopping.

In my jar:

  • 1/3 cup oat bran
  • 1/3 cup h20
  • 1/3 cup skim
  • 1/3 cup pumpkin
  • 1/2 baby apple chopped
  • drop of maple syrup
  • pumpkin granola
  • last of the pomegranate arils

002 Yummy!  I don’t think I needed to add the maple with the sweet arils in there!  I can’t wait to get to the bottom of this jar.

I am not feeling any serious soreness this morning from BodyPump!!!!  Finally figure out how to not be a crazy lady like the teacher and still get a good workout.  She was doing the class with a strained abductor yesterday.  Let your body rest lady!

OK time to get things together and head out into the dark, damp day…this can’t bring me down, I will be in Maine tomorrow!!!!!!

When I turned on the news this morning the water cooler question of the day was, “should school nutritionist cut out chocolate milk from school lunches and only serve plain milk?”  This made me think.  Chocolate milk is much better than soda or most juices, but it is still chocolate.  Overall I think I would be in favor of keeping the C. Milk because it could be the only way you can get students to drink the calcium rich dairy product.  If they see a spike in soda consumption in the schools we will know why.  I think I always had Apple&Eve juice boxes as a kid.  What did you drink?

******************

Onto the food!

Superfood breakfast!

001 ~1/2 cup mixed oats and oat bran, 1 cup h20, banana (1/2 mixed in 1/2 on top), scoop of Amazing Grass Superfood Meal, pomegranate arils, small amount Uncle Sam, 1tbs almond butter.

This is hugely filling!  I think I have to pack up the second 1/2 to bring to work!

Goooooo Superfoods!

002 Green is good :)

Happy Friday everyone!

I hate to buzz through the last 24 hours, but I only have 15min to get this donzo!

Stupid trivia gets me home around 10:30 and all I can think about is my bed.

My eggs in a hole worked great at holding me over yesterday, and I just had my usual prunes around 11.  I will spare you the pictures :)

For lunch I had some leftover taco-taco salad

001 Lots of Romain, beans, tomatoes, cheese, purple tortilla.  Along with 2x vitamin C and an Adora.

002 Lots of cheese :)

The usual snack happened around 3pm and was glorious!  I can’t say enough about this stuff!

003 004

I seemed to have hurt my hip flexer in BodyPump doing lunges so I skipped the gym.  Stupid hips take a long time to heal and are a pain in the rear errrr hip?

I got some errands done like getting cat liter and food la, la, la.

I came home to an awesome letter from BARCS for donating in my 1/2 marathon.  I totally put a smile on my face!

005 Yay animals!

I also got around to putting some more postcards into another frame.  This would make 4 in my collection and most of these cards are from my mom and span 10 years of my life!

006 For dinner I needed something quick before heading to trivia.  Falafel and a spinach side salad.  I used a box and they were easy and tasted good!

007 008

009

cilantro, yogurt dill sauce, tomatoes.

We came in 10 last night out of 23 teams…not the best showing but last night was really hard!  No one got the last question.

OK finally to this morning!

I had two little bowls of deliciousness.

I found this jar of almond butter which I was on the hunt for my nutella yesterday and knew I needed oats in a jar!

010 011 012

Pumpkin oat bran and apples with cinnamon and yogurt.  Both topped with the last Oikos Maple Pecan Pumpkin cakes!

Off to shovel the rest of this in my mouth!

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Good Morning!  My Dad is here and we have a long day planned so I need to make this quick!

To finish up with yesterday in not too many words.  Sorry I keep doing this.

001 002 003

Tuna salad made with yogurt, pickles, S&P, sun dried tomatoes on a bed of spinach.  I also had the works chips from Food should taste good and a very large carrot.

I had an apple on the way to pick up my dad but I forgot to snap a pick.

After sitting through hours of traffic we finally picked up some booze before heading to dinner.

004 For dinner we headed over to High Topps because we knew we could get a seat.

005 I started with the Maryland Crab soup and a roll.

006And moved onto the Caesar salad with another roll and dressing on the side.  It was typical food.  Comparable to Chili’s.  Nick said his was awful, but that is to be expected when you order a steak at a place like that.  They are better at pouring drinks than making food there.  Tonight’s dinner should be better.

I had a couple thin mints, watched Dog Whisperer with Jillian (!!!!) and called it a night.

 019

This morning I had oat bran with pumpkin butter, orange cranberries, Kashi H2H , almond butter.

007

OK off to tour Fort McHenry and then head to Clipper City Brewery for a tour with Nick.

Check ya later!

Hold the Beef November 2, 2009

Good Morning!  Happy Monday!

News report: There is a beef recall in Maryland due to tainted ground beef from NY sold to Trader Joe’s and Giant.  E. coli has been reported.

Yep!  For those of you that saw Food Inc, now creepy is it that what Pollan spoke of is actually happening.  Your average pound of ground beef is from 5 different countries.  Just because the beef was processed doesn’t mean the cows were in upstate.

The thing that bothered me the most was how casually the news reporters updated us.  I guess someone has to die from E. Coli for it to matter to them.  This is a serious problem!

All the more reason to watch the beef intake, but remember it isn’t just beef.

On a lighter note, it is lighter out this morning!  I also had a nice bowl of oat bran for breakie.

001 002

1/4 cup oat bran, 2 tbs Kashi 7 grain nuggest, 1/2 naner, 1/4 cup skim, 1/4 cup h2o, flax, handful Nature’s Path Blueberry Cinnamon Optimum, river of almond butter :)   With a cup of coffee, warms me heart and soul, but in a not so attractive bowl.

Check your beef!

Welcome Monday!
