Toothless Eats
Posted: December 5, 2010 Filed under: wisdom teeth | Tags: banana, oat bran, pudding, sweet potato, wisdom teeth 1 Comment »On Friday morning I had my wisdom teeth out. Did you know you can have any number of wisdom teeth up to 4? I only have 3!![]()
So what does one eat when solid foods are not allowed and I am scared to get dry sockets! I also did not want to be eating ice cream the whole time because I still need to get nutrients into my body! (I did have the last of our vanilla coconut ice cream on the first night and it was delicious!)
I have been using my blender and masher quite a bit.
My mom was here the first day and she made me a big thing of chocolate pudding with yogurt.![]()
I added some blended banana with peanut flour to the remaining pudding for another “meal”
I have also been eating a lot of mashed sweet potatoes with goat cheese melted in.![]()
More of these…
Blended with this and some vanilla hemp protein.
I am also enjoying some smooth cold/luke warm soups.
This tomato bisque from WF is really good cold! I ate about 3/4 of it in one sitting.
For breakfast I have been eating milked down oat bran with a mashed banana.![]()
I wish I had more pudding right now, but I want to eat a big piece of crusty bread even more. I can only chew with my front teeth and it definitely makes you slow down to eat.![]()
If you have your wisdom teeth out, what did you eat?
side note: You definitely do not need to spend the money of anesthesia unless you have serious dental anxiety or your teeth are impacted. I have nitrous gas and I was fine. It also saved me $300.
Dark and Cold

I was up 30min early today because I need to take my mom to the train station before work.
I obviously needed some oats to power me through the morning, plus it is freezing outside! They said it wasn’t going to go below 40, but 44 is close. I hope my plants are ok!
Coffee, oat bran and lavender that was a Mothers Day gift from Woodberry Kitchen to my mom.
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup skim, 1/3 cup water
- banana
- cinnamon
- vanilla
- hemp protein
- almond butter!
- Crofters
- chia seeds
Looks gross = tastes delicious! The lightening is even worse at 5:45AM. Time to head to the train station!
Happy Tuesday!

Today is Earth Day! I have memories of this day going back to 4th grade when we had a whole school day of activities and games to educate children about the environment. I have always loved nature. I was that girl who collected bugs in the woods and frogs in the pond, and now I am working at the State’s Department of the Environment.
What do you do to protect the planet??? A few things off the top of my head that are really easy for everyone to follow are…
- support local operations from farmers markets to main street stores.
- plant your own garden – this saves money too!
- recycle!
- buy a lunch box instead of paper bags
- use tupperware over plastic baggies
- cool your home with fresh air over AC
- put on a sweater and turn your thermostat down in the winter
- unplug appliances – I need to work on this one
- bring your own bags to the grocery store
Just a few changes to make the world a cleaner, safer place for years to come.
Now onto some green oats!
Green oats, in a green bowl, eaten with a green spoon!
The usual mix:
- 1/3 cup oat bran, water, skim, Kefir
- 1 banana
- almond extract
- cinnamon
- 1 scoop Amazing Grass Superfood
- homemade flax chia almond butter
- chia seeds
Now I have to get moving, I need to drop off my recycling in another neighborhood so it gets taken care of!
REDUCE, RESUSE, RECYCLE!
Have a super GREEN day!
Strawberries and Cream

N and I have 2 wedding back to back on Saturday and they aren’t in the same town PLUS our roommate is moving in on Sunday. Let’s just say it is going to be a busy weekend! I wish the weather were going to be nicer. At least it is nice today!
I was really pleased with how much oats turned out this morning!
Strawberries and Cream Oats
- 1/3 oat bran
- 1/3 cup whole grain drink, 1/3 cup water
- cinnamon
- pinch salt
- vanilla
- 1 tbs flax
- ~4 strawberries chopped and cooked in
- ~4 strawberries chopped for topping
- 1/3 cup Kefir
- 1 tbs crunchy pb
- (forgotten chia seeds!)
This was a great combo. Banana has nothing on sweet strawberries!
I have to make sure to bring my sweater to work. The AC will be cranked with the nice warm temps. I hate being cold!
Where did the time go? I need to get my butt out the door!
Check ya later!

Thank God I brought my plants in because it was 36 degrees when I woke up this morning. I think they will just stay inside today, and lets hope Sissy doesn’t mistake any of them for her littler box.
Due to the cool temps this AM I really needed some hot oats!
PB&J oats!
Blurry with a side of baby kale and a messy bowl.
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup skim, 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup Oikos
- 1 med banana
- cinnamon
- vanilla
- flax
- raspberry preserve
- pb
- chia seeds
Mmmm naturally light! I took so many takes of this shot to have it not be blurry!
I think I am going for a bike ride after work so I need to get my bike into the car and my gear packed up!
See you tonight for some steak fajitas!
Orioles Magic
Posted: April 9, 2010 Filed under: breakfast, Friday | Tags: Amazing Grass, gone nuts, oat bran 1 Comment »Good Morning! It is Friday! Happy Dance
Sorry I never checked in last night we had a kickball game after work and then we went out for a bite to eat at Mother’s downtown, which is an area bar that actually had some decent food choices.
Today is not only Friday, but it is also the Baltimore Orioles opening day! I am not attending, but the city is abuzz with Orioles magic, make it happen! I am sure I will be attending a few games this year. Tickets are so cheap!
Now back to the food!
It was really hard getting out of bed this morning so I felt that my oat bran needed a little extra boost today ie Amazing Grass Superfood!
I had the usual mix with an added scoop of Superfood (I just realized that I forgot chia seeds!)
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup skim
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup plain Stonyfield
- 1 banana, 1/2 in 1/2 on top
- 1 scoop amazing grass
- wheat berries
- cinnamon
- vanilla
- Last of my Sanibel pb
I love my green oats!
Time to get moving. it is a chilly 49 out there today!
Any good plans for the weekend???

Well we seem to have gotten water back some time in the night, but it is still sputtering out of the taps and I don’t think I will be drinking it straight for awhile.
I went back to old faithful this morning and I sure did miss my oat bran!
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup skim
- 1/3 cup sputtery water
- 1/3 cup Stonyfield plain
- 1 banana (1/2 mashed in, 1/2 on top)
- 1 tbs wheat berries
- chia seeds
- Sanibel pb
- vanilla
- cinnamon
Oats in natural porch light…we are so close to sunrise breakfasts again!
Note: The news just told me to conserve water if I have it…guess I should have held off watering my plants this morning, but they would have died today!
Try going a day without your taps or toilet. Nick was happy he didn’t have to do the dishes.
Kickball tonight if the t-storms hold off.
It is going to be a long day.
At least it is almost the weekend!
Raining. Flooding. Wonderful Monday.
Posted: March 29, 2010 Filed under: Monday | Tags: oat bran, wheat berries Leave a comment »Yucky Monday.
It was really hard for me to get up with my alarm at 5:30AM this morning. It is rainy and foggy, but Sissy would never let me miss her feeding!
There are already two accidents on my road to work so I am going to try and get out the door a little early.
Return to oat bran!
Some things were old, others were new.
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup water, skim, Kefir
- cinnamon
- vanilla
- 1/2 banana
- 1 tbs wheat berries
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- few bits of nuts over chocolate and raspberries trail mix
- honey cinnamon pb from Sanibel!!!
No that is not poo in my oats, it is chocolate covered almonds! At first I was mad that all the chocolate in this trail mix had melted, but now I kind of like it this way. You are guaranteed some of the good stuff in every bite!
Side note: Did you know that golf clubs do not fly free on Southwest?
Time to hit the road!
Remember Meatless Monday!
Oats in Sanibel

Did anyone catch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution last night??!!? I was really good and I can’t wait to see the next episode. These people are so boxed in by USDA regulations and have their blinders on so tight that they don’t see they are killing their kids! You can go to Jamie’s site by clicking on the icon along my right banner side.
I was back to my normal breakfast of oat bran this morning! I missed my oat bran.
This was a bit more simple than usual but it was still delicious!
- 1/3 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup h20, 1/3 cup 1% milk
- 1/2 banana – mashed in
- 5 Florida strawberries – mashed in
- pinch salt
- ~1/3 cup Oikos mixed in at the end
- 1 tbs honey cinnamon Gone Nuts peanut butter.
See you for lunch!
