Snow Day!
Posted: January 30, 2010 Filed under: saturday | Tags: bagel, french toast, kefir, pear, salad, wegmans Leave a comment »Well hello there from the great white Baltimore!
We have made a few new friends today due to the lack of food.
Mr. and Mrs. C were among the many! Sissy is in heaven and even thought she could somehow make it through the glass window and get one. Yes, she may not be the brightest, but we love her.
So backing up to yesterday…
Work was super busy, but we always take time for lunch.
Salad of spinach, carrots, celery, tomatoes, avocado and balsamic with a big hunk of herb beer bread.
I didn’t have my snack until I got home, but a glass of wine joined it
Last night Nick and I couldn’t figure out what to do. I had to be at BARCS at 8:30 this morning for training, playing with kitties and escorting, so I didn’t want to make it a late night. We settled on Disc One of Mad Men and Wegman’s PYO (pick your own) dinners.
My dinner included:
Multigrain bagel with flax (Wegman’s has amazing bagels) toasted with almond butter and jelly. I also had a salad of mixed green, steamed broccoli, red peppers, tomatoes and a white bean pesto mix. I also had a store made chocolate dipped chocolate chip cookie.
I had to celebrate cookie Friday!
Mad Men was interesting. I mostly spent my time thinking about how my Dad grew up in the time this was going on and my grandfather worked! I think I am more interested in the history rather than the actual plot lines.
I was up early this morning to get into the city of training, and I was really close to just going with a bowl of cereal. I saved myself and had a lovely batch of french toast!
I dipped two pieces of Quinoa bread in 1 egg, skim, flax, cinnamon and almond extra (best part). I topped my toast with a heated mash of black berries and maple syrup. I also had some kefir with chia seeds, banana and almond butter.
This was delicious!
At BARCS today I adopted out my first cat! It was great, but no one else wanted to look at cats so I called 4 hours my time for the day. I finally got home around 1:00pm after deal with snow traffic, threw my clothes in the washer (Sissy cannot get sick from the other cats) and me in the shower.
I was more than ready for lunch!
Part 1: I made a little savory bread pudding with my leftover beer herb bread! I mixed together about 2 slices of bread with 1 egg, skim, hot sauce and poured 1/2 into my cute ramekin. Then I had a layer of spinach and tomato sauce. I finished it off the the rest of the bread and 2 pieces of Cabot cheddar. I cooked it in the mirco for one min to make sure the egg cooked then transferred it to a 425 toaster oven and cooked it for 10min.
Golden crispy cheese! I think I would have cut down on the skim and put some cheese 1/2 way through next time, but this was pretty darn tasty.
For my dessert/lunch part two I had a delicious pear.
I heated a pear with cinnamon for 1:30 then topped it with vanilla almond crunch granola. Wow this tasted just like a pear crisp! Next time; bowl and smaller pieces of pear.
Delicious DIFFERENT lunch. I always feel like I have to make my lunches at home different from anything I could bring to work.
Alright, I need to get to the cleaning I have been putting off all day and check out what the weather is going to do tonight.
Stay safe in the snow!
Wild Things

W went to see “Where the Wild Things Are” tonight. Lets just say I would not let my child see it if they were under the age of 10. It moved slowly at times and got really violent! I did not enjoy it. I think I liked the illustration the most about the book. It was a little to artsy for me?
I am beat so here is the rest of my day in a nut shell, I’m in a nut shell!
Prunes, ounce for ounce better than apples! Had about 5 around 10:30.
Sweet potato, tofu, spinach and guac on a WW wrap. Cottage cheese with a balsamic river and a pear.
Snack was interrupted by a visitor so I forgot to take a picture…but it was a classic apple slices and PB cinnamon raisin swirl. I am thinking of having ants on a long tomorrow, and I am really excited about it!
I did remember my Adora disk right before I was leaving!
After work I went to Target to try and find some things for my Halloween costume, cat litter and birthday cards. Leggings are $5 in all colors, but of course they did not have my size! I might try looking at home this weekend.
I rushed home and packed up some dinner to take with us…while packing I had a handful of granola (damn Bear Naked for being so moist and delicious! and some sun chips garden salsa flavor).
Wait hold the phone…when I came to the door I had a present from mommy!
Woohoo! Guess what I am having for breakfast tomorrow morning??? Thanks mom!!!
Back to the food…
leftover BBQ lentil meatloaves from a while back, pita to be stuffed, veggies for dipping in yogurt lemon sauce, animal crackers that were supposed to be split with Nick, but he said no and I happily gobbled them down.
Now we are watching the Wire and hittin the hay!
Night all!!
Is Soda Needed to Sustain Life?
Posted: October 12, 2009 Filed under: Monday | Tags: goat cheese, pear, soda, spinach, tea, tofu, wheat berries Leave a comment »So I was having a grand old day, getting things done hanging out with Sicily, until I saw an interesting soda ad…
If you can’t open the link it is a mother complaining that the government is going to start taxing juice drinks and sodas. I don’t know if this is due to the direct correlation of obesity and soda or it is another pro corn ad, but I thought it was ridiculous! You do not need soda and juice to live, ever heard of water?!?!
Here is the website list of supporters. There you will find major soda manufactures and petroleum producers. I am not really surprised by this. These are the same companies that made soda so cheap in the first place but using corn syrup and subsidizing it in the first place. Now they want to keep their product cheap so that they can still make money through other people.
OK that is enough of my rant…these are just my opinions and I do not try and put these opinions on other people.
One last tid bit. Did you notice the bags she was carrying were plastic and not the reusable type that the world is pushing for?
So for dinner I had no idea what to make, and then Nick asked me “what’s for dinner?” on the way home. I guess I had to hop to that!
I sliced up some tofu and put some honey S&P over them before entering the oven. I also threw on some butternut squash. I also had some wheat berries with spinach and goat cheese. I sort of burned a single piece of the tofu.

I really liked this wheat berry mix.
Nick and I are not settling down for some How I Met Your Mother and pear with tea.
Layers

Sissy (Sicily’s Nick name that Nick gave her) is running around like a crazy person, but now she decided to chill on the couch and watch me type. She actually watches you like she knows what you are thinking not with a blank stare like doggies.
This is her last night…no she is not dead!
Shortly after I took this pic, I snacked on a flattened banana with almond butter. I think Allison started this? and it was delicious!
I call this fruit bowl o’ layers
It started with yogurt…check out this lid! (hmm guess you can’t really read it, but it says “more yogurt for your dollar and less plastic in a landfill” or something like that)
I posted a while back about how I was going to start buying large plain yogurt and make my own flavors and I guess Stoneyfield jumped on that too. Pat on my back
After the yogurt many a thing was added…
Layers = plain yogurt + banana + flax + pear + Uncle Sam + Kashi H2H + peach + almond butter + skim.
I swear all of those layers are in there.
OK time to get my duck boots on and head out the door, we are having some showers this morning. Fingers crossed there are no accidents on the highway!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
ANY GOOD PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND???
De-Stress
Posted: September 24, 2009 Filed under: Thursday | Tags: granola, pear, salad, Sicily, tofu, wrap, yogurt Leave a comment »Hello! Welcome to Thursday night! It actually isn’t a super night because we lost at kickball, and the team was not in so much of a chipper mood when I left. At least I had my lady to greet me at the door!
This is her current position and we are watching Bones! Reminds me of Kelly (but I am sure she knows they get is all wrong!)
Before I could get home to my girl I had a seriously stressful day. The EPA is coming for a visit soon and we have quarterly reports due so the day was seriously crazy!
I had to scarf down my lunch in between after calls with Region III.
WW wrap with avocado, spinach, egg, hummus (could have seriously used some hot sauce!) I also had plain yogurt with pumpkin nola and a pear that got a bit beat up in the lunch box.
On the to kickball I had two of my apricot carob oat rounds (yes there are still a few kicking around).
I had planned on doing sprints before kickball, but due to me forgetting my clothes at home and tons of traffic, I did not get to the field in time. I was seriously stressing out about this and I know I really shouldn’t be because it is one run! Just one training run! It will not kill me! I know Megan has talked about this and Caitlin (Congrats to Caitlin again!). I just tried to channel Nick the whole time and kept telling myself “I can’t change it, just roll with it”. Love his calm outlook one time, sports are a different story.
Even though we lost our game I still had a good time hanging out with some good people.
When I got home I heated up leftovers that I had planned on eating and made a side salad.
3 min total. Left over baked tofu and butternut squash.
Side salad with romain, garden mater, snap peas and feta.
Off to finish Bones, play with kitty and watch the new Office!
Good Night All! Tomorrow is Friday!
