Winter Veggie Fest

Sicily has developed a liking for fake tree…aka the Christmas Tree.  She tried eating it down tonight, but has now lost interest…we shall see how it goes.  At least she is not going after the poinsettia!  Lily used to eat them though, and they are not what killed her.

Before preying Sissy off the C-Tree I had to get through my Monday.

It actually went by quickly because I have a lot to get done before leaving for Beantown on Friday!

Lunch was super delicious!

Around 3pm I had a lovely stack of snacks.

008 Shredded Wheat Oat and Bran squares, which I found out scored a 99 on the NuVal system today on HTP!  Score for my cereal choice.  I also had a clementine and seltzer.

At 4pm sharp I headed out into the rain, ugh more rain, seriously????  I ventured to the gym for 30min on the elliptical followed by an hour body pump class.  Ouchie!  My arms are going to be sore tomorrow, in a good way though 🙂

When I arrived home I had no idea what to make for dinner…I knew I had pork chops that needed to eaten or frozen so I made them for Nick.  He also got rice, roasted veggies and salad…I had a veggier plate.


Roasted carrots, parsnip and sweet potatoes in EVOO and oregano.  Tofu with Mrs. Dash – seriously like the honey/maple syrup version a lot better.  Salad with Romain, avocado, tomatoes, cucumber and goat cheese.

I think I might have a wee bit of peppermint ice cream with a few chocolate chips…I am still pretty full, but I can’t get the combo out of my mind!

I will also be on Christmas Tree watch!


Welcome Back

Good Morning Monday! RAVENS WIN!!!!!! In overtime, and I feel asleep 😦 .  They should have won in regulation!  It was the third string QB, come on boys!  Big Ben will be back next time and we need to step it up!

5:30 was a bit of a shock to the system this morning.  At least it is only a 4 day work week for me!  Going to the Big Bean for Katherine’s birthday!!!!!

Until then I enjoyed a lovely bowl of oat bran!

001 1/3 cup oat bran, 1/3 cup h20, 1/2 cup skim, naner split into cooking and on top, Uncle Sam, pumpkin granola, spoon of crunchy almond butter.

Oh I have missed my almond butter!

I also had gingerbread coffee that I picked up at TJs yesterday.  Very nice with a hint of ginger, molasses and other holiday spices!

Time to get a move on little doggie!  This week is going to be reallllly busy until I reach Friday!

Bee-Bees and Pumpkins

Are you ready for some footballllll?!  Fist quarter and the Ravens have already scored!  Not getting too excited over here, it is going to be a long game.

About an hour after lunch I headed out for a nice run on this lovely 60 degree day!  Unfortunately I had tallied up reason number 16 billion as to why I hate children along my way.  Two children shot their bee-bee gun at a target in their backyard as I ran by the rear of their home.  Unfortunately, their backyard is about 10 feet and then there is the main side walk for the neighborhood!  They can’t claim they didn’t see me it was only 2:30pm and I was in white!  What did they say when I screamed at them for aiming a gun in the direction of a person??? “I’m sorry”? No! They said, “You were in the way”.  I was in the way??????  How about I come down there and tell your parents I am pressing charges for firing a weapon in the direction of a human!  Ugh it made me so angry.  Why do people buy their kids bee-bee guns anyway?  What good do they do!!!

OK sorry had to get that off my chest.

When I got home I finished cleaning, showered and got to work on this little guy.

 011 We have had 3 pumpkins outside on our deck for the fall and it was time for them to have their second use!

Pumpkin Chili

I followed the general direction on the back on the chili spices bag but also added a few more things.

  • 1/2 turkey meat – browned and fat drained
  • 1/2 onion steamed with meat
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can white kidney beans (for some reason we have 3)
  • 1/2 cup green lentils – added to chili and cooked while it simmered
  • 1 cup chicken broth – to cook lentils
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

After a few hours of simmering and cooking my little friend in the oven it was time to serve!

008 Chili on top of 1/4 piece of roasted pumpkin and topped with plain Oikos, cheese and pumpkin spice chickpeas.

009 I had sides of homemade guacamole and some Food Should Taste Good multigrain chips.

One happy dinner could only be complete with my new peppermint ice cream with peppermint stick crunches in it!

010 No fake pink peppermint here…but it is slow churn with chemicals…can’t win them all.

Time to get back to the game!


First Day Back

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!!  Are you ready for some Sunday night football???  Should be a blood bath tonight, but I have a lot to do before then!

I slept in a bit and ate our last piece of fruit for breakfast…

002 Heated apple with cinnamon and pb, Go Lean Crunch, Shredded Wheat, H2H and Uncle Sam.  With a mug.

003 After breakfast I headed out to 3 different grocery store…ugh.

First up was Trader Joe’s.  I needed almond butter and coffee and TJ’s is really the only place it makes sense to buy them.  Of course I got some other things while I was there 🙂

I then went to Giant to get Nick his regular grocery store things, Boar’s Head deli meat, salt and vinegar chips etc.  Lastly I stopped at the Shoppers to get the large Okios and use one of my buy 2 get 1 free coupons from Brown Cow.  Sharing the yogurt wealth.

I returned to make a delicioso lunch!

I had been wanting melted brie for a while now, and I remembered to pick up some light brie at TJs today.

006 The cheese really was melted, but I don’t have a press (yet! Coming for Christmas!!!) so it stayed in its slices.  Along with the brie I had spinach and pumpkin butter.  Really good combo.

I also had a plain Brown cow pb&j yogurt.

005Love this combo, but it is even better with bananas.  I wonder if they have tried to make a pb&j yogurt yet?

Gobble, Gobble in 30min

I’mmmmmmm back!  Is Thanksgiving over already????  Is it really less than a month until Christmas???


Welcome to Thanksgiving Sports Center.


I decided to do a run down of the days events instead of dragging it out.  So just pretend we have 30min to get it all in…ready go!

I got to the airport in record time, of course, and there was no line through security, typical.

On the plane I had a seltzer with a splash of cran, and got some looks.  I also had two biscoff!  AirTran now serves these little butter cookies if you get on the right plane.

My momma picked me up from the airport and we were greeted at the door with whiskey sours aka Whiskey with a little bit of lemon juice.  Slooooow sipping.

001 We then had a special treat of Maine crabmeat salad sandwiches and tater chips with a pickle!

002 Next up we headed to the mall to get my mom’s watch re-sized and fawn over William Sonoma’s.

Round two for the day with food!

Lamb chops, mint jelly, asparagus with hollandaise sauce.  Endive salad with radishes (which I picked off, yuck!).

Theme of the day…pace yourself!

006 Whole Food – 12 grain with chemical pb before heading out for a 6.5 mile run on a misty, moisty morning in Maine!  It was quiet and peaceful, a few riders and runners.

When I returned I mixed some something special.

007 TJ’s blueberry oatmeal packet topped with Uncle Sam and Oat Bran, 1/2 grapefruit and coffee.

008No, it is not dog food.  Actually pretty good!

After breakfast, mom and I went for a walk on the beach with tons of surfers.

And then it was time for the biggggg eating!

We headed to the Black Point Inn as we have for many years.


012 Plate number 1 – pickles, sausage, grapes, 3 types of cheese, marinated veggies and beets.

013 Plate number 2 – the main show!  Tukey (duh), cranberry sauce, cornbread stuffing, wild rice, cabage, green beans, brussel sprouts, maple burbon sweet potatoes and a roll.

014 Plate number 3 – actually this was plate 4, but I forgot to take a picture of my first dessert plate :)  Here there is a piece of gingerbread, and a blob of pecan pie and cranberry tart.  The cranberry tart was leftover and way too sweet, but I also had a small bite of apple pie and pumpkin tart on my first plate.

Wowza, that was a lot of food.

We headed home to digest and play scategories where I won as always!  I was asleep by 10 because we had to hit the outlets bright and early!!!


Up early at 6am to get to J.Crew before 8am.

We ended up with a few great things, but did not go overboard.

Next was the planned peppermint mocha at Starbuck!

016 Did you know they put 10 pumps of syrup in a venti peppermint mocha??!?!! I got 2 of each, nonfat, no whip.  Along with perfect oatmeal, which I only put the fruit into with a small amount of brown sugar.  The nuts had walnuts and I am allergic…it was a pretty small serving.

017 We hit up a few more stores, I got some Cole Hann shoes 50% off!  I also went to L.L. Bean, Banana Republic and Nike.  I love Nike DryFit for running.

We then stopped by my college roommate’s house in Freeport to say Hello! and hurried home for lunch…well so we thought.

There was miscommunication and mom and I ended up going to Whole Food to get some food and then getting super lost…

When we finally got back I was starving.  It was about 2:00pm and we ate around 9AM.

I was quickly instructed to make some guacamole, and I downed most of it.

018 I also seriously needed my margarita to settle down a bit.

When I finally calmed down I had some delicious lobster salad!


And the best part…

020 Pumpkin and vanilla gelato from Whole Foods…yes the Whole Foods in Portland, ME has a gelatoria and candy store, along with a lot more.

4 hours later…time to head to the Back Bay Grill in Portland for dinner!

Well that was more than 30min, but there was a lot of food!  I need to go find a snack, we are supposed to go to a graduation party in a few hours and who knows what the food with be like and I don’t need any temptations!

Rush, Rush

Good Morning and Happy Maine Day!!!!

I am rushing around getting things finalized and heading out the door super early because I am scarred of traffic, long term parking and security! Ah! Last year I got their early and was able to drink about 3 beers before boarding…yeah I would rather just sit at the gate!  And there is free wi-fi for the holidays!  Perfect.

I woke up and did 15min of yoga flow.  I would have done more except my mind was racing and I couldn’t concentrate on the breath.  I then set off to make coffee and a waffle sandwich.

001 In the batter went 1/4 cup waffle mix, 1/4 cup pumpkin, wheat berries, milk, egg whites and honey.  In the middle mirco apple and peanut butter.

004 OK time to get dressed and out the door!

See you in Maine…well maybe if I can find wi-fi.

Good Eats

Hey y’all!  Welcome to the end of Tuesday!

I am rushing around trying to get packed, Sissy all set up (she will be alone on Thursday and Nick will be home with her on Friday), do laundry and try and clean up the place a bit.  I hate coming home to a dirty house!

As for the eats of the day…

Morning snack was the other 1/2 of my apple from breakfast.

003 Yes, I took a bite before the picture, or maybe someone took a bite out of it while it was in the break room fridge???  How many people bring reusable lunch boxes to your work?  It is embarrassing how many people bring plastic bags to a place dedicated to the environment.  I guess this shows that the place may be environmental, but that doesn’t mean the people are.

And my lunch?  Well it was a bunch of all different sorts of things.  I am trying to use things up before I leave.

We had our usual Friday crisis.  How do they know we are off for 3 days?!?!?!  Those Fates are tricky!

I slowly made my way through my PM snack for the last hour of work.

After work I went to the gym for a quick workout so I could be home to say good bye to Nick!  I did 25 min of the hill and then 30min of negative splits.

Dinner?!?! What to make????

Tofu. Roasted Veggies. Wheat berries. Check, check and check!

009 Tofu mixed in maple syrup, EVOO, salt, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg.

012 Wheat berries cooked normally with a little goat cheese mixed in.

011 Roasted onion, broccoli, mushrooms and carrots in EVOO, oregano and S&P.

010 Wow, I did not realized how full this would make me feel!  I also must admit I had a few (yes really only a few) Kashi crackers while I was waiting for my food to cook.

OK it is time to get crackin’!  Biggest Loser is on in the background I have some on MamaPea’s maple chick peas to take out of the oven!
